2Fast2Rally
A downloadable game for Windows
one of you drives. one of you reads the notes. try not to end up in a tree.
2Fast2Rally is a co-op rally game where one person drives and the other person navigates. the navigator has the pace notes and the map, the driver only knows what they get told. 25 stages, 9 cars, full clutch and H-shifter if you want it, and wheel support with force feedback.
About the game
i wanted a rally game where the co-driver actually matters, so i made one.
in 2Fast2Rally one player drives and the other one is the navigator. the navigator gets the pace notes, the stage map and the split times. the driver gets none of that. you only know a left 4 tightens is coming if your navigator tells you, so you have to actually talk to each other. call it too early and they forget it, call it too late and you're in the ditch.
you can play it solo too. there's an AI co-driver that reads the notes out for you, or you can practice navigating while the AI drives.
i tried to make the driving as realistic as i could. the engine, clutch and gearbox are all simulated with real torque, so the gas only revs the engine and everything goes through the clutch. you can stall it, grind gears, rev match your downshifts and even shift without the clutch if you get the revs right. or just put it in automatic and send it, that works too.
What's in it
- co-op online: one drives, one navigates. host a lobby and your friend joins with your IP (or over a VPN like tailscale). if someone drops out you can rejoin right back into the stage.
- 25 stages across 5 rally events: fast forest gravel with big jumps, twisty mountain tarmac, snow stages with snowbanks, rocky mountain gravel and mixed surface stages with mud and ice patches
- rally mode: drive a whole event back to back, times added up, with its own leaderboard
- 9 cars: modern AWD turbo hatch, a group B monster, a rear-drive wedge, a tiny classic mini, a 70s saloon, a rally1 car, a turbo saloon, a front-drive supermini and a V8 rally raid truck
- real pace notes: 1 to 6, hairpins, squares, tightens, opens, don't cut, crests, jumps, bridges. they're made from the actual road so they're always right
- automatic, sequential or H-pattern + clutch: bind a real clutch pedal and H-shifter if you've got one
- steering wheel support with force feedback: 1:1 steering, you feel the front tyres go light when you understeer and the road through gravel and snow. gamepads get rumble
- day, dusk and night, clear, overcast and rain: at night it's just you and your lights
- damage: lose a headlight, bend the steering, kill the engine
- full cockpit view, analog gauges, chase cams and a navigator seat view with the pace note book
- stage editor: make your own stages and test drive them straight away
The navigator's job
the navigator sees every upcoming note with the distance to it and a hint for when to call it. hit space (or A, or click the note) to call it and the driver gets it on their screen. at the end you get a score for how many calls were on time, early, late or missed. it's honestly the most fun part of the game.
Controls
keyboard, xbox/playstation controllers, and steering wheels + pedals + shifters (logitech, thrustmaster, fanatec, anything that shows up in windows). everything can be rebound.
